THE COWBOY SHE LOVES TO HATE

In The Cowboy She Loves to Hate, Maisey Yates takes readers back to Four Corners Ranch

Today on the blog, we have a book review for Maisey Yates’s second Four Corners Ranch novella, The Cowboy She Loves to Hate.

The Cowboy She Loves to Hate is a short romance with two interesting and intriguing characters. Though they have circled and picked at each other for years, neither Tag McCloud nor Nelly Foster have ever had the courage to cross the line…until now.

The Cowboy She Loves to Hate Review

POV: Dual, 3rd Person

Pairing: Tag McCloud and Nelly Foster

Genre: Contemporary Romance, Western Romance

Tropes: Cowboy, Virgin Librarian, Enemies to Lovers

The Cowboy She Loves to Hate by Maisey Yates is the 2nd book in the author’s new Four Corners Ranch series with HQN.

In The Cowboy She Loves to Hate, Maisey Yates introduces readers to cowboy Tag McCloud and librarian Nelly Foster. While the story itself follows a semi-one-night-stand/enemy-to-lovers path, it is clear from the onset that these two people have been circling each other since childhood. They are connected in ways they don’t fully understand, pushing and pulling at each other until one of them breaks and makes an offer the other can’t refuse.

Tag has no idea why he made the offer to take Nelly’s virginity, but he did, and he isn’t about to go back on it. So, when she shows up on his doorstep on her thirtieth birthday, finally calling in his long ago offer to bed her, he doesn’t really stop to question it. He goes with it, and what follows is as surprising as it is inevitable.

I really enjoyed this story. I wish it had been longer, and that we got to see more of who Tag and Nelly are as people. But given that this is a second lead-in book to a longer series, it is understandable why that couldn’t be. However, it doesn’t stop me from wanting more from the story, even if it does wrap up quite nicely.

All in all, I liked this novella a lot. It’s well-written, with two great characters, and a fun storyline that makes me want to know more about Four Corners Ranch and the many people who inhabit it.
