Brodie by Aurora Rose Reynolds ~ Book Review

BRODIE

An Until Her novella

Brodie by Aurora Rose Reynolds is book 13.5 in the author’s Until Him/Her series. Don’t worry if you haven’t read any of the other books in the series though, because you do not need to have read the other books to read and enjoy this one. Brodie is a great standalone romance read, and perfect for any reader who is a short on time or maybe just looking for something smaller to read in between longer books.

The 1,001 Dark Nights series collection is also a great way to find new authors who you may not have read otherwise because all the books can be read and enjoyed on their own, and there are so many wonderful authors who write for the collection.

BOOK REVIEW

Brodie by Aurora Rose Reynolds KINDLE

This novella released in July, but I missed reading it during release week due to work commitments. I managed to carve out some time recently to read it though, and let me tell you, I’m really glad I did. I thought Brodie was a great read.Brodie is part of the 1,001 Dark Nights collection, which means  it is on the short side, like all the books in the collection are, but the short length doesn’t prevent the story from living up to its potential in the least. It’s a fast-paced, complete tale and it is both entertaining and well-written.

In the book, Reese Shepard is a bookish college student who wants more than anything to get into marine veterinary school, something that feels almost impossible when she moves from Minnesota to Florida due to an unexpected heartbreak. But though her plans may have changed a bit, her determination to build a future for herself has not.

Reese meets hockey player Brodie Pierce almost by accident when he saves her from an unwanted admirer by pretending to be her boyfriend, a decision that quickly leads the two to become unexpected friends. And the more time the two spend together, the more determined Brodie becomes to get out of the friend zone and into the real zone.

Though this book is a short read, it is a fully realized love story with great chemistry, good humor, plenty of drama, and some fun, deliciously swoony couple moments.

More book worm than Barbie, Reese Shepard is completely caught off guard when the most beautiful man she has ever seen in her life steps in and pretends to be her boyfriend when some creep won’t leave her alone.

She assumes that it’s the last time that she’ll see the chivalrous stranger, but soon he is everywhere she is. And before she knows what’s happening, the two of them are spending all their free time together bonding over their love of the ocean, scary movies, and homemade cookies.

Reese knows that a guy like Brodie Larsen could have any woman he wants and that becomes even more apparent when she finds out that he’s a pro hockey player that’s worth millions of dollars. So to save herself the potential heartbreak she places him firmly in the friend zone.

If only he’d stay there.

The infuriating man starts pushing for more, lots more, and the worst part is she wants to give it all to him including her heart.
