When the other shoe drops…she’ll steal his heart.
Getting even.
One step at a time…
Maddie Kingston just walked away from everything in order to take over her family’s struggling shoe business. And she’s in some serious trouble. The majority of the company’s shares have been bought out by none other than Maddie’s ex-boyfriend, self-made billionaire Nick Holter. Now Maddie needs his help…even if it means buying Nick from a charity bachelor auction.
After the Kingstons destroyed his grandfather’s career, Nick vowed to take over their company. He’s inches from victory when he finds himself bought and paid for…by his sexy ex-girlfriend who’s hell-bent on saving her family’s company. Between their families’ feud and their own unfinished business, tempers – and emotions – run hot. Too hot.
Because kissing with the enemy is a guaranteed shoe-in for trouble…

In Heart and Sole, Maddie Kingston is doing everything she can to save her family’s sinking company—including attending a bachelor auction and buying the man trying to take it from them. Years ago, ruthless business tycoon Nick Holter had mean everything to Maddie, but now, she can’t seem to find even the smallest trace of the boy she once knew. But she is determined to find a way to bring that part of Nick back, before her family loses everything they’ve built in Kingston Shoes.
I absolutely loved Maddie’s refusal to give up on saving the family company—and also her determination to save Nick from himself. Her devotion to her goal set the tone for the entire story, and it kept the tension between the characters alive and well throughout the book, which I loved and appreciated tremendously.
I’m all about reunion romances, as they’ve always been among my favorites to read, and this was a delightful second chance at love story. There is an apparent overlaying sense of unfinished business between Nick and Maddie, and it made for a fun, dynamic, emotionally-charged love story. This is very much a character driven book, with some great romantic tension between two well-drawn characters. I loved it!
Entertaining and engaging with two excellent and charismatic characters and a story that flows both easily and naturally, Heart and Sole is a fantastic, fast-paced, emotionally-gripping read with plenty of angst, humor, heart, and desire. Everything contemporary romance lovers could want and need in their next romance read. Highly recommend checking it out.
I’m Miranda Liasson, author of lighthearted contemporary romance.
I won the Golden Heart in 2013 for a story that has become This Thing Called Love, which debuts from Montlake Romance this spring. It’s about life and love and the hard choices we all sometimes have to make. It’s heartwarming but lighthearted, too.
I also write lighthearted contemporary romance for Entangled Indulgence that will debut in 2015.
I write romance because I love stories about the experience of being human, and love is the universal experience we all share. I also love stories that have happy endings and make me laugh. I hope my stories make you laugh a little, too.
