First Look: The Witcher (Netflix Series Trailer)
First Look: The Witcher
On Friday, Henry Cavill and other cast members of the upcoming Netflix television series, The Witcher, appeared at a panel in Hall H where they gave us our first look at the show.
In the original press release for the series, Netflix Vice President of international series, Erik Barmack described the world Poland author Andrzej Sapkowski created in his eight-book Witcher Saga series as “a rich and memorable world, at once magical and familiar.”
I’m not a good man. I’m a Witcher.
The author added that he was “thrilled” the series would be adapted for Netflix viewers, with the company staying true to the books and the themes he created. Sapkowski will serve as a creative consultant on the series.
Sean Daniel (The Mummy franchise, The Expanse) and Jason Brown (The Expanse), partners at the Sean Daniel Company are executive producers, along with Tomek Baginski (Oscar nominated short The Cathedral, BAFTA winning The Fallen Art, Ambition) and Jarek Sawko (The Fallen Art, Another Day of Life) from Platige Image, the Polish production and visual effects company.
According to Daniel and Brown, “The Witcher stories follow an unconventional family that comes together to fight for truth in a dangerous world. The characters are original, funny and constantly surprising and we can’t wait to bring them to life at Netflix, the perfect home for innovative storytelling.”
Sawko and Baginski added, “There is a moral and intellectual depth in these books which goes beyond genre. It is a story about today and today’s challenges, hidden under a fantasy cover. It is a story about us, about the monster and the hero inside all of our hearts.”

Soon to be a major Netflix original series!
The Witcher, Geralt of Rivia, becomes the guardian of Ciri, surviving heiress of a bloody revolution and prophesied savior of the world, in the first novel of the NYT bestselling series that inspired the blockbuster video games.
For over a century, humans, dwarves, gnomes, and elves have lived together in relative peace. But times have changed, the uneasy peace is over, and now the races are fighting once again. The only good elf, it seems, is a dead elf.
Geralt of Rivia, the cunning assassin known as The Witcher, has been waiting for the birth of a prophesied child. This child has the power to change the world – for good, or for evil.
As the threat of war hangs over the land and the child is hunted for her extraordinary powers, it will become Geralt’s responsibility to protect them all – and the Witcher never accepts defeat.
Blood of Elves is the first full-length Witcher novel by World Fantasy Award winner Andrzej Sapkowski, and the perfect follow up if you’ve read The Last Wish collection.
