RATING:

As if things aren’t already tough enough as the only girl on a college football team, Coach had to go and assign Zeke Collins as my roommate.
A cocky kick returner and my brother’s best friend who should have been ripped of that title years ago, he’s as infuriating as he is undeniably sexy.
I hate him, and for good reason — reason I won’t ever let him forget.
He thinks because we grew up together that it’s his role to protect me, but all he does is get in my way, make me look weak, and piss me off more.
I tell him I can handle myself, and I’m hell-bent on getting that point across to him and the rest of the nation watching the only girl in collegiate football.
The pressure doesn’t get to me. The scrutiny? I’m ready for.
But sharing very thin walls with Zeke Collins? I wasn’t prepared for that.
And the more we’re forced together, the harder it is to distinguish that pencil-thin line between hating him… and wanting him.

BOOK REVIEW
Fair Catch is my first Kandi Steiner book, so I had no idea what to expect diving into this new author/book adventure. But once I dove in and started reading, I found something pretty great, as this new adult story was fast-paced, well-written, and the lead characters are both complex and charming.
I really loved the premise here. Best friend’s sister, enemies to lovers, and roommates all combined in one new adult sports romance. When the story starts, Riley makes her injured brother a promise to tryout as a football kicker while also vowing not to forgive the man she deems responsible for her brother’s accident, his best friend, Zeke. This setups up the main storyline for the book, where Zeke is on the college team Riley is trying to secure a spot as a punt kicker on. They end up as roommates, with the whole hate-love thing going on.
Fabulous writing, great characterization, excellent goals, motivation, and conflict, steamy love scenes, and a satisfying ending. I loved how both Riley and Zeke had to fight for different types of respect. And how they had to fight to learn how to communicate with each other, despite having known each other most of their lives. They were a delight to read, and so were all of the side characters.
If you’re looking for a well-written, fast-paced, first-person dual point of view sports romance that will sweep you up in the ambiance and have you rooting for all the characters, this might just be the book for you. I enjoyed it a lot and absolutely cannot wait for the second book in the series.
