Synopsis: I’m not crazy. My mother may have died with everyone believing she was insane, but I refuse to accept that as my fate. Even if I am recalling memories about a life I never lived. A life that includes the mysterious James—a guy I’ve only just met, but feel as if I’ve known all my life. The memories are coming hard and fast, and I’m falling down a rabbit hole with consequences that far exceed anything I could have ever imagined. And now, someone is trying to kill me.
Someone from my past who knows about my visions and is looking for something he believes I took from him. All I have to do is figure out how these memories relate to the present and maybe I’ll survive to live another day.
Maybe…

ARC Review
Every once in awhile, I read a book I have no idea how to describe. I just know I love it and that it affects me. Sometimes that affect is emotional, other times it’s mental, taking up my thoughts in ways I wasn’t prepared to experience. This book was a little bit of both.
Drift is a clever, well-written time travel story about a young woman named Abigail who didn’t know she was anything more than a normal girl with a schizophrenic mother who killed herself. And yet, nothing about Abby’s life is what she thought it was, not her past, not her present, and definitely not her future.
When Abby first meets James, she’s intrigued by his intensity but also frightened of the way he makes her feel. She isn’t ready for the feelings he invokes in her, or the things he makes her see. But by meeting each other and spending time together, things are set in motion that are outside their levels of control. Dangerous things. Things that could get one or both of them killed.
Man, did I love the characters in this. Abby and James, they’ve been through so much together and their story is so captivating that it’s impossible to stop reading it once you started it. At least for me it was. I needed to know what happened to these characters, and how or if they manage to solve the mysterious circumstances they found themselves in.
Drift is a unique and interesting read. At times it is also a little bit confusing, but given the subject matter, the confusion didn’t surprise me or turn me off from reading. Instead, it fascinated me. I wanted to know more about these abilities that Abby developed. More about Abby and James as individual people, and more about the past they share together. About the troubles they’ve found in the present.
The human mind is a wondrous and fascinating thing with so much untapped potential that the possibilities that exist for it are, quite frankly, mind boggling. Drift takes some of this untapped potential and gives it a name, a possibility, and the story is every bit as fascinating as the characters and subject it involves.
If you love a good time travel story and are looking for a good, well-written love story with danger, mystery, and so much intrigue, pick up a copy of Drift by Amy Murray. It’s a fascinating story with really great characters.
