Book Talk Saturday: Book Haul Part Two

booktalksaturday_header

Happy Saturday, readers! I’m back as promised to continue my book haul post from Sunday. This time I’ve got some recent ARC copies to talk about and some series I’ve loved and bought in print (already read the ARC or owned the e-book, or both).

I received some of these ARCs a few weeks back, but due to other commitments (prior books accepted, photo shoots and subsequent editing scheduled, etc), I haven’t been able to dive into them yet. My April was busy with senior photo shoots and editing and my May is busy with lots of photo editing going on as I just photographed a wedding last weekend, so I’m fitting in book reading in between all of that. Thankfully, things will slow back down for me toward the end of the month.

For now, here’s a few books I’ve received for review or purchased to read myself.

Print ARCs and Books Received

The Darkest Lie by Pintip Dunn

I received an early copy of this YA book from Kensington for review and am so excited to read it now. My full review will be posted on the blog closer to it’s June 28th release date, but from the pages I’ve read thus far, my initial impression is that the book is fast-paced, well-written, intriguing, and engrossing. I loved Pintip Dunn’s debut book from Entangled Teen, Forget Tomorrow (currently up for a 2016 RWA Rita Award), so I’m over the moon to finish my read of The Darkest Lie.

Nookietown by V.C Chickering

I received a copy of this book from St. Martin’s Press for review. It’s very different from what I normally read, and not something I would’ve sought out on my own, but I’m looking forward to diving in and giving it a shot. From the few pages I peeked at, I thought it was intriguing, funny, and sure to be a lesson in be careful what you wish for. Look for my review of this one on the blog soon.

Hot Cowboy Nights by Carolyn Brown

I received these books for review from Grand Central Publishing Forever and will be posting reviews of both books on their May 31st release date. Needless to say, I’m excited to read these and I can’t wait to share my thoughts on them.

New York's Finest Series

Frisk Me, Steal Me, and Cuff Me by Lauren Layne

I’ve talked a few times about these books and I bought them all in digital after reading the ARCs for review, but I also recently purchased them in print, too, because they are too good not to own physical copies of each one of them. One of my favorite series I’ve read in the past year for sure.
