Book Haul January 2021 (Book Buys and ARCs)

BOOK HAUL JANUARY 2021

WHAT I BOUGHT AND RECEIVED THIS MONTH

Book HaulBOOK HAUL – JANUARY 2021

Okay, going back through all the books I bought and hauled in January, it appears I have a serious book buying addiction. Like, I bought so many books you guys. Most of them were on sale, so there is that, but a few weren’t. It’s kind of ridiculous….but in the best way, I guess. And it definitely on par with how I have always been with books. I am the girl that was lucky enough as a kid to buy a stack of books from Scholastic each week, as my mom, dad, paternal grandma, and middle sister were all big readers and encouraged it in me. That is something I have carried with me from childhood to adulthood. But sometimes, like now, it’s a lot to take in at one glance. So, maybe grab a cup of coffee or your preferred beverage of choice and settle in for a bit. Because this is…a lot.

I should also mention that not all of these books are fiction. Some books I bought because of working with at-risk teens, and others I bought because I saw them recommended online or found them while browsing for something else. There are a few writing reference books, too, so if you’re an aspiring writer, I’ve got you covered on some great book recommendations on that score.

BOOK BUYS ARE THE BEST BUYS

In hindsight, I should also mention that some of these books appear on both the purchased print and purchased e-book lists. I pre-ordered some of these titles in digital format then went into the store and found them on the shelf. Most of the duplicates are normal auto-buy authors for me and since I already have the other books in the series in print, I bought in both digital and print. And I can also read on my phone during breaks or lunch at work, so there is that, too.

Another thing I should mention is that not all of these books are new releases. In fact, some of these came out a while ago and for whatever reason, I put off buying them at that time, or, because I was still in school, didn’t have the time to devote to read them then. I also went through a rough period with reading, which is highly unusual for me, that saw me balk at picking up any book to read for long periods of time. I’d read a chapter here or there. But for the most part, I went a few months without reading or posting anything.

I blame my lack of reading interest on all the serial killer books and journal articles I had to read. My criminology master’s thesis took a lot out of me, much more so than I expected for sure, and I think that’s a lot of the reason I didn’t want to pick up a book or write anything to post for a while. However, I’m back now. I’ve had time off to reset my mind and I am buying and reading all the books. So, you can expect a lot of reviews and discussions over the next coming months. Because I’ve got lots to say and share with you guys! And I’m wicked excited to get started.
