In the final Broke and Beautiful novel from bestselling author Tessa Bailey, a blue collar construction worker and a quiet uptown girl are about to discover that the friendzone can sometimes be excellent foreplay.

MakeMeConstruction worker Russell Hart has been head-over-work boots for Abby Sullivan since the moment he laid eyes on her. But he knows a classy, uptown virgin like her could never be truly happy with a rough, blue-collar guy like him. If only she’d stop treating him like her personal hero—a role he craves more than oxygen—maybe he could accept it.

With the future of her family’s hedge fund on her shoulders, Abby barely has time to sleep, let alone find love. And her best friend Russell acting like a sexy, overprotective hulk any time their Super Group goes out in public definitely isn’t helping her single status. But after a near-tragedy lands Russell in her bed for the night, Abby’s suddenly fantasizing about what he looks like shirtless. Chest hair and tattoos—who knew?

As Russell struggles to keep Abby at a safe distance, she begins to see through his tough-talking exterior—and acknowledge her own feelings. Now she’s ready to turn the friend-zone into foreplay…and make him lose control.

First Impression: I laughed out loud at the very first line. I love Russell!

From the start, Russell is a living, breathing man, unique and full-on aching for a woman he believes he can never have—Abby, his friend. It’s clear right away that Russell is a character to love and sympathize with, and I did both. Quickly, and irrevocably.

Because that’s the kind of talent, the depth of skill, Tessa Bailey has as an author. She makes her story people real, and vivid, and she shares them on the page with readers, allowing us to ache with them. To bleed and cry and laugh and love. That’s the case with every story I’ve read of hers, but it’s been especially true in the Broke and Beautiful series. These books are special, this one even more so than the others, and unique, and they exist in the real world where I can relate and dream of meeting a man exactly like Russell. And Ben. And Louis.

One of the things I love best about this series, and Make Me in particular, is the deep level of friendship between the guys, and the girls, and each individual couple. There is depth to these relationships, and that’s undeniably true for Russell and Abby.

I must confess that I had to stop myself from reading too fast on this one because it’s so good I wanted to find out more, but at the same time, I wanted to savor over each and every world of this story. The characters are just so phenomenal and real, and I was on pins and needles wanting to discover how they would figure things out, how they would get there, and make a romantic relationship work.

Holy mackerel, but this book about did me in. The anticipation alone had my stomach in knots, but then my love for the characters and my emotional investment in their story heightened my curiosity, my need to know how it would all play out. And boy, did it play out.

I loved how worried and protective Russell was over Abby, and how much Abby appreciated him being there for her, how much she knew he would be there for her. He’s a constant for her, and one she desperately needed in her life. She needed someone to take care of her and to teach her to take care of herself, and Russell was the perfect man to do both because he cares so deeply, much more so than outsiders would expect him capable of doing.

This book was so much fun. The asides from the characters cracked me up and made me love them all the more, and the love scenes…damn, but they were hot. The entire book, even when I stopped to write notes for this review, just full out slayed me. Every time I went back to reading, I fell right into the story again, nothing else in my head but Russell and Abby and whatever was happening between them on the page. This book was the best kind of read for me. Fantastic, compelling, and an absolutely amazing piece of romantic fiction. The characters, the writing, the story, are all fabulous and I could gush about each one individually, for different reasons, for days.

Needless to say, I loved this book and cannot recommend it enough. In fact, the entire Broke and Beautiful series has been outstanding, and if you haven’t read the other books, Chase Me and Need Me, I recommend reading those as well. Because they are all worth it, and they all give you the same kind of experience you’ll find in Make Me, though I have to say, Russell is, without a doubt in my mind, my favorite. He’s just so unbelievable and the fact that he doesn’t know how unbelievable he is kills me. He’s a keeper, and so is Make Me.

If you love books that will make you cry, laugh, and smile from ear to ear, Make Me by Tessa Bailey is the perfect read for you. It’s got everything romance readers love about romance books, and it completely, utterly wrecked me. And I loved every single second of it!
