She didn’t miss the note of intimacy in his comment. And while his admission and the underlying innuendo should have her running from the house, she found herself intrigued. What in the world was wrong with her? Her imaginings from last night were what was wrong with her. She’d sketched a picture of this man in her mind that was too perfect and without flaws. Everyone had flaws.

She decided right then and there that she couldn’t trust herself in his presence. Her imagination had run wild with this man’s character, and she couldn’t help but paint him as some sort of hero, not only for rescuing her but also for giving her the things she desperately needed right now—a safe place, a job . . . a chance.

With self-preservation finally at the forefront of her thoughts, she managed to take an uneven step away from him. The misstep shot a heavy dose of pain up her leg, and it felt like her stomach was in her throat with the sudden correction in her balance. But Mr. Riley grasped her arm firmly. I enjoyed this book a lot. It’s first book in a trilogy series with the same lead characters in all three books. As it is meant to be part of a series, this book does not have as tidy of an ending as one might expect. However, the book’s well written, its characters engaging, and both kept my attention enough to warrant my continual turning of its digital pages.

Desire Me Now is a boss-secretary story set in Victorian England, though to me, it had a somewhat more modern feel to it in some of its language choices. Those choices sometimes took me by surprise, but in a good a way. I enjoyed everything I read in this book, and I love that the hero, Nick, was a sexy alpha protector who helps those who need it. I completely understood the attraction Amelia would have for this man, and him to her. Amelia is very much a damsel in distress, but she’s not a weak woman by any stretch. She’s been through a lot, goes through more in this book, but, she’s still capable of stating her opinion when warranted and knowing what she wants and what she doesn’t, even when she tries to tell herself she doesn’t want what she wants. I loved that about her. The contradictions and the realness. She’s both likable and relatable, despite the time period in which she lives.

Desire Me Now was a great read that kept me entertained throughout the story. It’s love scenes are blazing hot, and the characters inherently likable. I recommend giving this one a try, and am already looking forward to the sequel book, Desire Me More.
