7 MINUTES IN KEVIN

A GAMES WE PLAY IN GRANVILLE NOVEL

7 Minutes in Kevin by D J Jamison is the third book in the author’s Games We Play in Granville MM romance series. As with the previous books in this series, I absolutely adored this one. Throughout the series, Kevin has been a quirky sidekick character with a lot of great advice, a horrible dating life, and an epic crush on his best friend’s dad. Now we get his story, and the story of the hot dad he can’t seem to stop wanting.

BOOK REVIEW

I have loved every book in this series thus far, and I was eagerly awaiting to read 7 Minutes in Kevin because Kevin is such a vibrant side character in the previous books in this series. I mean, he’s made no secret of his attraction to Darren’s dad in the other books, but we didn’t really get to see much of Darren’s dad Garrett or his reaction to Kevin until the end of Darren’s book, during the Drag Main event. So this book was so important to discover why Kevin took such a liking to Darren’s dad, and why said dad was the guy for Kevin.

One of my favorite things about this book is the fact that Kevin did his best to live his truth even while fighting his fears of what other people thought or might think should he truly let himself shine among his hometown crowd. He knows he has people who love and support him, but he’s dealt with enough judgmental jerks to make him leery of putting himself out there too much. That’s something Garrett is able to help him with, giving him the support and encouragement he needed to truly be the person he was meant to become.

Garrett is a good man, a good dad, and a good friend. He’s always doing things to help other people, even when it puts his own health and happiness on the line. In fact, he’s so used to putting everyone else around him first because of his guilt in always being out on the road, that he doesn’t quite recognize his own need for more than what he has at the start of the book. He’s lonely and he has needs and wants he hasn’t explored, and he gets to explore those with Kevin, even if they have to hide their connection for a while.

I love that these two challenged each other to be the best versions of themselves while never once shortchanging who the other one is or making them feel like they couldn’t depend on them when they needed the support. Garrett was so great at making Kevin feel seen and appreciated, and Kevin was amazing in allowing Garrett the time and space to explore who he is and what he wanted with him.

This was such an amazing read. Hot, but with a wide range of emotions and experiences that readers can take away and think about. Absolutely loved it and cannot recommend it enough for those who love MM romance and who crave a romance that is deep and meaningful between two loving and supportive characters.

7 minutes in...holy heck, what have I done?!

What happens when I return early from a work trip to find my son throwing yet another party?

Annoyance. Exasperation. Temptation...

I'm tired, yearning for my bed, but I hadn't counted on the games my son and his friends play--or the one person who'd be waiting in my closet after everyone else is gone.

The guy who's been haunting my fantasies lately.

He's too beautiful. Too young. Too off-limits, being one of my son's best friends.

And...on his knees for me.

Oh god.
