TWO TRUTHS AND A LYLE

A GAMES WE PLAY IN GRANVILLE PREQUEL NOVELLA

Happy Sunday, my fellow readers! I am back with a review for a short, low-angst, mm romance that came out early last year, Two Truths and a Lyle by D J Jamison. I saw someone recommend this one earlier this morning and after reading the blurb, I decided to check it out. The author is not one I was familiar with, which is always a scary prospect when searching for a new book to read, but lucky for me—and you, the story ends happily, as I loved the author’s work in this short prequel novella.

BOOK REVIEW

I found this book by accident when scrolling through a Facebook group’s new posts this morning. Someone had recommended it, and though I’d never read the author, I decided to check the book out.

I AM SO GLAD I DID!

Not only is the book well-written and fast-paced, but the characterization is fun, light-hearted, and the story has minimal angst. Normally, I’m all about the angst in the books I read, but having less angst in this one worked so well for me today. I needed a story to just get lost inside and take myself out of my head for a bit, and Jamison provided that with Truman and Lyle, two best friends who suddenly—and not so suddenly—become something more.

I absolutely loved Tru and Lyle’s journey to happy ever after. I thought the author did a great job of showcasing their closeness while also communicating Lyle’s total obliviousness to just how close they truly are—and how much closer they could become if he allowed himself to go there with his friend.

If you’re looking for a short, well-written, low-angst, mm romance read, Two Truths and a Lyle by D J Jamison just might be the book for you. I know I enjoyed it, and am already working my way through the author’s backlist for more.

RATING: 4.5 out of 5 stars
