WEEKEND UPDATE is another new feature at Okie Dreams. This is where we will update you on the latest blog posts we’ve made, but also what we’ve found across the web, including Twitter, YouTube, etc. This weekend, we have some book sale news, some new release information, a few new book reviews, and a couple of weekly blog feature posts. Kate Clayborn, author of LOVE LETTERING and the upcoming LOVE AT FIRST, announced a new book deal this week. LIKELY STORY is about a woman who, after returning home and stumbling across a “friendfic” diary where she and her best friend imagined their futures, aims to find out whether her old dreams might actually serve as a road map to the life, and love, she’s always dreamed of finding. Rebecca Kuss at Inkyard Press bought, in an exclusive submission, THE NOT-SO-UNIFORM LIFE OF HOLLY-MEI by Christina Matula. In the debut middle grade series, Taiwanese-Canadian Holly-Mei Jones is uprooted from her normal life in Toronto and must try to find her place in a new world of private school, frienemies, and expectations when her mother gets a high-flying job in Hong Kong. Publication is set for winter 2022. (see tweet)
B.B. Alston released AMARI AND THE NIGHT BROTHERS, a middle grade book from Balzer and Bray that Kirkus Reviews noted, “weaves magical whimsy with realistically portrayed circumstances, allowing Amari’s literal #BlackGirlMagic to shine”. This book is available now. (see tweet)
