The Devil in Her Bed by Kerrigan Byrne (ARC Wednesday)

THE DEVIL IN HER BED ARC

ARC WEDNESDAY

THE DEVIL IN HER BED is the third book in author Kerrigan Byrne’s Devil You Know series and I was lucky enough to receive an ARC. While I won’t post my full review until closer to release day, I will say that I am a sucker for a bad boy, especially when they come in such a delicious, historical form.

This particular book takes place in the Victorian era, circa 1872, a time most known for wide-ranging progress and ingenuity. A time of the second Industrial Revolution, political reform, the railway boom, and social change. A time when Charles Darwin and Charles Dickens lived, and died. When the telegraph was invented, and when women in Europe obtained a “limited right to retain their property after marriage“.

DEANNA’S THOUGHTS

Though I am not posting a full review of this book for another couple of weeks, I will say I am loving it so far. Not only is it extremely well-written, but the characters are captivating and full-fledged, and the storyline is intriguing. The dynamics and backstory are setup so well, and the beginning quickly draws you into the story and the journey to come. It is also easy to see why these two characters are both drawn to each other and challenging for each other.

If you’re already a fan of this series, or of Kerrigan Byrne, I definitely recommend pre-ordering or keeping your eye out for THE DEVIL IN HER BED early next month. However, if you’re new to this series or author, I recommend checking out books 1 and 2 below then binge-reading the entire series in one go. And if you’re anything like me and currently find yourself snowed in (Missouri transplant, here), now is the perfect time to dive into the first two books.

What do you think?

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Kerrigan Byrne has done many things to pay the bills, from law enforcement to belly dance instructor. Now she’s finally able to have the career she’d decided upon at thirteen when she announced to her very skeptical family that she was going to “grow up to be a romance novelist.” Whether she’s writing about Celtic Druids, Victorian bad boys, or brash Irish FBI Agents, Kerrigan uses her borderline-obsessive passion for history, her extensive Celtic ancestry, and her love of Shakespeare in almost every story.
Kerrigan lives with her husband on the coast of Washington State’s Olympic Peninsula in a Victorian-era town almost frozen in time. When she’s not writing, you might find her on the beach with her dogs, lounging at a local vineyard or brewery, or buying things she doesn’t need at antique stores.
Her novels with St. Martin’s Press include the Victorian Rebels series (starting with The Highwayman) and Devil You Know series (which begins with How To Love A Duke in Ten Days).
