TEXT APPEAL

WHAT HAPPENS LOVE ENTERS THE CHAT

Text Appeal by Kyle Scott is a fun, playful romance story about a woman who has just moved to small coastal town and a man who has lived there his whole life. The two meet after she gets assigned his old phone number and starts getting messages for him (some of them too important for her to ignore). And once she’s learned more about him, she finds herself becoming immersed in his life and in the town in such a fun, quirky way.

This book drew me in so hard, so fast. I started reading it and I was just lost in it. It was so good and I am so ready to talk about with you all because it just made me smile throughout. It was so FUN.

BOOK REVIEW

I was so excited to read an ARC of this book, you guys. The premise alone had me like whoa, and then I started reading and quickly discovered that it was a book I would not be able to put down until it was done.

I have seen this author’s books around for a while now, but for whatever reason, I had yet to actually pick one up and read it. I have no idea why that is either because I loved the author’s writing style on this book. It was engaging, fast-paced, and I loved the personality she gave to her characters. Especially the FMC, who was the sole POV character throughout the book.

Riley Cooper was so much fun to get to know and root for in this book. She was a ball of fire, always down for whatever the people around her needed and yet also completely her own person with her own sense of purpose and autonomy. She knew exactly who she was and what she wanted, and she wasn’t afraid to be honest about that. Even when it was hard, and she wasn’t sure how things would work out for her after fake dating the guy she’s actually starting to truly care about.

Connor, the man whose previous phone number she recently got, was a bit harder to get to know. At least at first. But the more he got to know Riley and her infectious nature was able to rub off on him, the more the reader—and Riley, of course—got to know him, and see how good of a guy he truly is. He may not have had his life as together as Riley had hers, but he was working on it, and meeting Riley allowed him to become the man he always wanted to be.

“No one’s judging you.”

“A good ninety-nine percent of the room is judging me.”

The chemistry between these two characters was perfect and fun. The love scenes steamy and well-written, and the overall romance story just a blast to read. I had the best time reading about these two and wondering what else Riley would do. I feel like Riley would have been a freaking amazing Woman’s Lit FMC because she just had that kind of personality. Quirky, fun, and so damn likeable. I absolutely adored her, and I loved how her personality brought out so much more of Connor’s personality. They definitely fit together well.

If you’re looking for a fun, playful, steamy, and altogether highly entertaining romance read, I cannot stress picking up a copy of Text Appeal enough. It is a book that immediately drew me in and wouldn’t let go, and a book I didn’t know I needed until the moment I started reading it.

Romance author Riley Cooper always dreamed of living by the water. But within a day of landing in the charming seaside town of Port Stewart to work on her latest book, she's getting calls and texts for some dude on her new number. Weird ones. Sad ones. Sexy ones. Ones that make her want to meet him. For curiosity's sake...if nothing else.

After years of being on-again, off-again with his high school sweetheart, all Connor wants is to move on with his life. If only everyone in Port Stewart would let him. What he needs is to be seen with someone else. So when fate puts him in the path of the new girl in town who got his old number, faking it together seems like the perfect solution.

Spending time with the gorgeous former prom king might be great research for Riley’s romance writing…if only she can keep her feelings in check. But the more she gets to know him, the harder she’s falling. Can their serendipitous meeting turn into something real and true?
