SWEET ATTRACTION

Today on Okie Dreams, we’re sharing a book review for SWEET ATTRACTION by Melanie Munton. SWEET ATTRACTION is the second book in Munton’s Slow Seductions series with Entangled Publishing, but the first book I’ve read. Since this is a new series for me, I wasn’t sure what to expect. But it turns out, there was no reason to worry.  Because I loved the story, the characters, and the author’s writing style. And even though I didn’t read the first book, I didn’t feel lost at all in reading this one at all. It’s the perfect standalone read, and I couldn’t be happier for having read it. BOOK REVIEW

SWEET ATTRACTION is a sexy-sweet love story about a woman in desperate need of a fresh start and a man in desperate need of a new outlook. Both Jade and Hunter seek fulfillment, and they go about getting it in very different ways. It is those parallel journeys, those different yet shared experiences, that make them three-dimensional story people. That make them both relatable and likable fictional human beings.

I liked Jade and Hunter. I didn’t always agree with them or their decisions and reactions to things that happened in the story, but I liked them. Hunter is a proud, honest man who strives to build a better life for himself and the wife and kids he wants but doesn’t yet have. He is determined to work and achieve more than he had growing up, which isn’t a bad thing but it does get in the way of him seeing and living the life he has right now.

Jade isn’t quite as complicated as Hunter, but she’s still just as deep, just as proud and flawed as he is. She’s grown up with everything she could possibly want in life, and yet, she isn’t happy, and with good reason. She wants to prove she can make it on her own, and that she can be happy in a new town, where she knows no one, but in refusing to deal with the past she left behind, she holds herself back from the happy future she seeks. And that’s a problem.

Hunter and Jade meeting was brilliant and complicated and sweet and sexy and perfect for who they are as story people. They each have things they need to fix, but it’s only in meeting each other that they get the push they need to make a real change.

If you’re looking for a romance that’s both sweet and sexy and riddled with real-world life experiences and fears, be sure to check out SWEET ATTRACTION by Melanie Munton. It’s a fun read, with a real, human kind of message. And I loved it. A lot.
