Some words last forever…

25846915It’s been six months since Ashlyn Daniels was kicked out of her home. Six months since she stood up to her abusive stepfather and got a busted rib-and seeing all her things set ablaze in a backyard bonfire-for her trouble. Never going back. She doesn’t need trouble…especially if trouble is tattoo artist Lane Garrett, who’s six-feet-plus of tattooed hotness and a complete ass.

Lane has spent the last decade fighting to support his family. To protect them. There’s no room for romance, even with a fragile (yet amusingly feisty) stunner…even if she somehow manages to invade his world and his heart.

But while some secrets are as visible as ink on the skin, others must remain hidden at all costs…

Written On My Heart by Cole Gibsen proved to be an emotionally charged read that I couldn’t and didn’t want to put down. There’s a somewhat rawness to this book, an emotional honesty, that appealed to me and caught me in the heart.

Ashlyn Daniels has been through more than anyone should ever have to go through and yet, she survived the horror she experienced and, despite her anxiety, she also found strength within to build a new life for herself. Not an easy thing to do when you’re young and alone in the world, so not only she is strong, but she’s brave and resourceful, too. Even if she doesn’t particularly think so, or even realize it at the start.

Lane has been through his own brand of trouble, and Ashlyn brings out all his protective instincts, whether they’re wanted or not. I kinda dug that about him, too. And I loved reading about the differences in his personality because who he is affected by the many hats he wears. He was a fascinating character to read, but then, so was Ashlyn.

This was such a great book! I loved Ashlyn and Lane. Lane really grew on me because at first, he was a bit of an ass but then it became apparent he had a lot of depth and emotion in him. Both characters were real, raw and so utterly human, and their many interactions together had the kind of push-pull tension I love to read in romance novels. The more I read about them, the more I wanted to read about them. They were two terrific characters, and their story had an emotional intensity that I loved a lot.

If you love your New Adult books with characters who are so real they leap of the pages and consistently tug at your emotional heartstrings, Written On My Heart by Cole Gibsen is a book you’ll want to check out. I loved it!

At seventeen Cole found herself homeless with only a beat-up Volkswagen Jetta and a bag of Goodwill clothing to her name. The only things that got her through the nights she spent parked in truck stops and cornfields were the stacks of books she checked out from the library along with her trusty flashlight. Because of the reprieve these books gave her from her troubles, Cole vowed to become a writer so she could provide the same escape to readers who needed a break the reality of their own lives.
