SET IN THE SAME WORLD AS BOSTON’S BILLIONAIRE BACHELORS
Irresistibly Broken by J. Saman is the first standalone book in the author’s Irresistibly Yours series about five best friends who had their lives torn apart by an unexpected tragedy and the women who help to piece them back together. It is hot and steamy and such a fun, surprising read.
Irresistibly Broken is a book that completely captivated me from the moment I began reading it, and it kept me invested all the way through to the end. The lead characters, Zaxton Monroe and Aurelia Whitlock, were so compelling to read because their story had so many universal elements to it. Things I have no doubt that many of my fellow readers can and will relate to from various aspects of their own lives. And the side characters? They provided the perfect amount of humor, seriousness, and support, each one carving out their own niche in time to both enhance Zax and Lia’s story and provide some foreshadow for the rest of the books in this new series.
He may be a coldhearted, intolerable jerk, but there is something irresistibly broken about him that ensnares everyone within his radius.
ZAXTON MONROE is a man who has endured heartbreaking tragedy in his life. So much so, he has kept much of his personal life on the back burner, and fully away from prying eyes. Which only makes the rumors about him swirl all the more. Yet, he does what he needs and he isn’t apologetic about it. Hence, why having the achingly beautiful Aurelia Whitlock, his forgotten ex-stepsister, as a design intern at his firm is a big problem for him.
Zax has no idea how Lia got her job at his company, though she doesn’t lack the talent for it. If anything, she has more than enough talent to spare. No, the problem is Zax suspects someone is out to undermine him and his company and he’s determined to find out who it is and why they thought having Lia around would be their ticket to his downfall.
Zax is everything I love in a billionaire alpha hero and then some. He is strong, skilled, and possessive and protective enough to warrant the heroine’s interest and ire. He’s so damn sexy, without even really trying, and though he comes off as cold and distant in parts of the book, he’s also a damn good dirty talker and a major, major lure for the heroine, Lia.
She is Persephone battling the darkness and monsters of the underworld.
Aurelia Whitlock, Lia, is one of those heroines who you immediately take a liking to but also grow kind of wary of because you aren’t quite sure if she’s going to hurt the hero before she heals him. She’s a great character, and she brings out a side of the hero, Zax, that few, if any, people ever get to see.
She’s funny, intelligent, strong, brave, and has the perfect mix of innocence and cleverness. She’s independent and forthright, and fully resolved to make it on her own, though she knows she can’t quite get to where she wants to be just yet. She has a plan, a goal, and messing around with Zax, even with all the crazy chemistry they share, could get in the way of her dreams. Yet, she can’t quite bring herself to stay away from him.
The chemistry between these two was both natural and electric, and they were both the best and the worst people in the world for each other because of it. They have history, sure, but they also, in some ways, barely even know each other. They have to start over, but also can’t seem to forget all they’ve experienced since meeting one another.
Their passion is undeniable, and the love scenes are steamy, spicy, and amazingly perfect for them. The author does a fantastic job of showcasing the growth of their relationship as well as their growth as individuals on their own. They each have their flaws, of course, but also their strengths, and each and every one of them play in flawless complement and contrast to the others.
This is a book that offers pure escape, realistic in its undertones, but also holding just that extra bit of fantasy that makes it truly stand out to its readers. I read it and couldn’t stop thinking about how great it was, and how well I was able to just get lost in its pages and its characters.
This was a five-star read for me, without question. Highly recommend checking it out.

Aurelia Whitlock is an ex-stepsister I forgot long ago. Until she shows up as a design intern at my fashion company. And that's the easy part. The part where she heats my blood, drawing me away from my grumpy, miserable side is another.
She has no business being here. The more I learn about how she got this job, the more perilous things become for me and my company.
I can't trust her. I can't fire her. And I can't claim her full lips with mine.
Now it's a keep your friends close and your enemies even closer situation.
Except keeping this stunning woman who surprises me at every turn close isn't as easy as it sounds. She's a delicious load of sunshine wrapped in smiles and enticing laughter. Her secrets and troubled past make me desperate to swoop in and fix them.
And did I mention the mouth on her? The one that challenges me and argues with me at every turn. The one I can't stop staring at or fantasizing about.
I'm in trouble. So much trouble. My former bandmates, my brothers in arms and blood, well, they're at just as much of a loss as I am on how to fix this.
So where does that leave me?
In one hell of a mess with a woman who has the power to destroy everything. Including what's left of my heart.
IRRESISTIBLY BROKEN is a 110k word super steamy grumpy/sunshine, enemies-to-lovers, age-gap romance loaded with tons of feels and rom-comish LOL. It is a standalone in a brand-new series set in the same world as Boston’s Billionaire Bachelors.
