So when Cora discovers her birth mother’s identity and that she has the chance to get to know her without revealing who she is, she takes. Never dreaming she’ll fall in love with Eli, one of her birth mother’s adoptive sons.
Finding Our Forever is a story that touched me. It wasn’t perfect, and I didn’t always agree with the characters’ reactions to events and revelations, but the story made an impact all the same. I felt for the characters and regardless of my thoughts on some of their reactions, I found them interesting and the story entertaining and impossible to put down.
In my reviewing, I’ve spoken a few times about emotional depth, whether a book has it or lacks it. This book has it, and because Brenda Novak is such a skilled author, capable of creating unique and vibrant characters that readers not only want to get to know but easily come to love, there is a depth to this story that brings a deep, memorable journey for the reader. You see, Finding Our Forever isn’t about taking the easy road, or the road that people think someone else should take. It’s about finding one’s place in the world, accepting and loving someone for who they are, flaws and all, and becoming a safe place for someone who may not have ever had one before. It’s a beautiful story. Heartwarming, poignant, and perfectly imperfect.
