It feels like I’ve been here for an eternity already. I miss Koda, his touch, his smell, and the way his cheek dimples in when he’s trying not to smile. I hate I won’t get to see that again. But there’s no point in dwelling, there is no point in hoping, there is no point in trying to find a way out of this.
This is my life now.
I chose this.
I have no idea what tomorrow will bring, but I’ll be ready. I’m willing to fight, even though I don’t know what the battle will be. For now, though, I need to rest and keep up my strength because who knows what’s coming next.
Climbing into bed, the mattress is more comfortable than I could have ever imagined. At least I give Jadis that much—nice house, nice furniture, nice fucking everything.
Shame about the damn company.
Sliding under the duvet, I pull it up to my chin trying to snuggle down and get warm. The pounding of the waves crashing against the shore somehow soothes me.
I wish Koda were here with me.
For now, I’ll have to live with him in my dreams.
If that’s the only way I can get him, then that’s what I will take.
