BOOK REVIEW
My Favorite Holidate was a happy light at a time when I seriously needed a feel-good romance to sweep me away. It had the perfect amount of heart, humor, and holiday spirit while also showcasing everything I love about some of my favorite hooks and tropes.
Designer Fable has her world somewhat rocked at the start of the story when she catches her boyfriend cheating on her at her billionaire boss’s Thanksgiving dinner. She pretends everything is fine to make it through then promptly breaks up with him, which unfortunately means she no longer has a date to her sister’s upcoming Christmas Eve wedding. Something she does not want to admit to the sister she loves.
Wilder knows something is up with Fable and when he discovers what it is, he’s furious on her behalf and determined to show her she deserves better. Letting her sister and his matchmaking aunt believe he and Fable are dating is the perfect solution to their problems. Especially since it allows him to show Fable that she deserves to be treated well, and he wastes no time at all in staying true to that sentiment. Something I absolutely loved about him. He had such a great heart, and he cared so deeply about those he let within his close-knit orbit.
My Favorite Holidate is fake dating at its best!
I loved the whole fake dating/revenge dating aspect to this story, and I loved even more that there was so much realness to Wilder’s actions toward Fable. He may not want to fall in love, but he eagerly shows how much he cares and wants her in his life. He wants to spoil her, and he does, with he most perfect gifts and moments to remember.
Though this was quite a long story, it had plenty of things going on that made it such a delight to read. The characters were amazing and fun to follow, and the holiday destination chalet was the perfect setting for them to fall in love and learn how to be with each other. It may have started out fake but the moments between them were all too real, and they were so, so heartfelt and satisfying.
If you’re looking for a fun, heart-tugging holiday romance to devour this holiday season, My Favorite Holidate by Lauren Blakely is one to check out. It has a little bit of everything and will leave you smiling and sighing on more than one occasion.
Absolutely loved it!

Wanted: hot billionaire to pose as my Christmas boyfriend. Must be willing to make my cheating ex jealous by kissing me under the mistletoe at holiday parties. Bonus if you make him cry.
To my surprise my billionaire boss is more than up for the challenge of coming down the chimney as my holiday boyfriend. The sexy single dad desperately needs a plus one at a Christmas Eve wedding, where he’s the best man and I’m the maid of honor.
And since my ex is in the wedding party too, my boss and I team up as a pair of insta-lovebirds for the holiday season, including during the annual week-long Christmas competition leading up to the snowy destination wedding.
But soon staying up late to string the best popcorn balls ever turns into a scorching night in his arms where the chestnuts aren’t the only thing roasting on the open fire.
Can all these winter wonderland nights seeking revenge turn into the real thing when we return to the office? Or are we destined to go the way of a Christmas tree on New Year’s?
