EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW WITH RALEIGH KEEGAN

NASHVILLE COUNTRY ARTIST

Raleigh Keegan Headshot

Hi Raleigh! Thank you for being here today! Can you tell us a little bit about you? Where did you grow up? Did you love music and singing at a young age?

RK: I grew up in Cincinnati, OH after being adopted as a baby. My birth mother was in jail at the time and made the brave choice to give me up for adoption. I have great parents who played me music in the car and I fell in love with music at a very young age. I didn’t start singing until I was probably 18 though.

How old were you when you first learned to play piano and guitar? Who taught you? What was the first song you learned to play? Sing?

RK: I took piano lessons as a kid because Mom made me, but then I gradually fell in love with the instrument. The first song I ever learned was “Heart and Soul”, I remember jamming out to it for hours at a time and annoying all of my relatives haha!

What was your first performance in front of other people like? Were you nervous or are you more comfortable on a stage in front of people?

RK: My first performance singing and playing in front of people was when I was 17 at a school concert. I was so nervous I could barely function. But I was pretty bad at that point, so I had the right to be nervous 🙂

How would you describe your current sound? What artists or genres do you think influenced you?

RK: I would describe it as Country/Soul/Rock. I think I am somewhere between an artist like Chris Stapleton and James Taylor. My influences are really diverse. I am just trying to make music that I love and that resonates with me in the hopes that it does that with others as well.

What albums or tracks would you say have made the biggest impact on you and your music?

RK: The Albums “Uncaged” by Zac Brown Band and “The Whiporwill” by Blackberry Smoke

What songs are on your current go to playlist?

RK: I actually have a playlist on Spotify so people can see what I listen to. It’s called “Raleigh Keegan Road Playlist”.

Tell us about your current EP. Give us some background on your available songs. Do you have a favorite?

iTunes | Spotify | Amazon

RK: My current EP is called “Roll On By” and was an absolute pleasure to write and create. The reason I love it so much is because all of the songs are real. Every one of them has a very specific meaning to me or to my band. I don’t have a favorite because I wrote them all, so I really do love them all. It would be wrong of me to choose a favorite 🙂

Well said! What’s coming up next for you? Any new songs or an album on the horizon?

RK: I am actually getting ready to head to Nashville to record a single. I can’t wait. It will be the first song on another EP!

We can’t wait to hear it, either! I know you’ve been doing some live shows this summer and I saw the social media announcement about Party In The Pines Music Festival on October 20th-21st. You’ll be sharing the stage with some pretty big names in country music: Keith Urban, Miranda Lambert, Jake Owen, Maren Morris, Brothers Osborne, Easton Corbin, and several other artists. How excited are you for that?

RK: I am so excited for that! I haven’t gotten to meet a lot of those artists and I am stoked to do so. I am a huge fan of theirs so it will be fun to get to share the stage with them.

Where else can people see you perform coming up?

RK: All over the country 🙂 – look me up on bandsintown.com for my tour dates!

Anything else you want to share with our readers?

RK: Thanks so much for your time! I appreciate every single one of you that listens to my music and cares enough to follow me. I’ll see you on the road!
