Concert Review

Country artists Brett Young, Kelsea Ballerini, and Lady A rocked the Sprint Center stage during their concert in Kansas City Missouri on Thursday night. Performing some of their biggest hits, each artist brought something different to the show.
36-year old Young kicked things off with his song Close Enough, followed by hits Like I Loved You, In Case You Didn’t Know, and Sleep Without You. His expressive voice and great stage presence made his set a fun one, though entirely too short for this fan. But judging from the positive crowd response to his 20 minute set, as well as how good he is at engaging his audience, there is no doubt Brett Young will be headlining his own tours soon enough.
Ballerini put on a good show as well. Packed with humor and popular hits such as Love Me Like You Mean It, Dibs, XO, and Peter Pan, the 23 year old songstress did a great job of sprinkling in some new material like Roses, I Hate Love Songs, Unapologetically, and Legends. She also did a stellar rendition of Closer by The Chainsmokers. Her one-hour set entertained and impressed an already eager KC crowd, and that made it all too easy to see why Ballerini is so popular with her fans.

Lady A’s newest band members, a trumpet and trombone player, further amped up the crowd with a funky instrumental playoff that immediately led into the country-trio’s appearance as well as one of their biggest hits, Downtown. What followed was a 95 minute, 22 song set that delighted the nearly 18,000 concert goers in attendance. And with old hits, surprising covers, and new songs, the trio put on an incredible show that will be nearly impossible to top.
A mixture of country, rock, and soul, Lady Antebellum struck a perfect musical chord that had the sold-out crowd belting out hit after hit right along with the artists. And in between the hits, there was much humor and surprising announcements as the trio released news that Hillary Scott, along with her drummer husband, is expecting their second child and so is fellow band member Dave Haywood and his wife.
A night of laughter, great music, and a special appearance by Modern Family actor and Kansas City native, Eric Stonestreet, made Lady A’s You Look Good tour an incredible night at the Sprint Center, and one I, personally, will remember for a long time to come.
