Review: Threefold Part 1 – Colin – by Sotia Lazu

Colin (Threefold, #1)Threefold Part 1: Colin by Sotia Lazu

Publisher: Acelette Press
Genre: Erotic Romance | M/F/M
Release Date: March 19th, 2015
Pages: 56 pages (e-book)
Series: Threefold

Colin Daniels is shallow, and proud of it. He only concerns himself with people who live up to his standards of beauty, and his best friend’s new girlfriend is found lacking. Becca is curvy, loud, and apparently all for public displays of affection.

None of that would matter, if Colin didn’t find her sexy despite his better judgment. When Brad asks for a favor, Colin has to choose between giving in to his desires and respecting the very few boundaries he’s set for himself.

Never screw your best friend’s girl. Or your best friend.

Note: The story is eventually m/f/m (and includes m/m) but this installment is m/f.

Colin Daniels is plenty shallow, but I found his character inherently likable despite that flaw. I enjoyed his interactions with Brad and Becca. It was easy to understand there is more to Colin than the surface persona he portrays, and that made me more than curious about his true self. It made me wonder how meeting Becca would change him, and how her being Brad’s girlfriend would change them all. I loved that Becca didn’t shy away from who she is or what she wants. She’s a strong female character and the author does a great job portraying that in Becca’s interactions with Colin and Brad. I found Brad equally likable and like with Colin, I wanted to know how being with Becca would further change him and change his relationship with Colin.

Throughout Colin’s interactions with Brad and Becca, readers are left with a sense of inevitability and an innate understanding that everything Colin thinks he knows about himself, about Becca, and about Brad will unequivocally change. It’s a change that needs to happen in Colin’s case because even with his penchant for shallowness, readers will still find themselves rooting for his happiness. The chemistry between these three characters is palpable, and the sexual tension is fiery hot. This might be short read, but it packs a nice punch and whets the appetite for what it sure to be a great follow up story.

Sotia Lazu hooked me with the first installment in her Threefold series, and I cannot wait to discover what else lay in store for Colin, Brad, and Becca in her second installment.
