First Impression: Well-written, with a heroine to remember.
I really liked this book. Melody Sharp is a woman in dire need of finding herself, but I adored her character something fierce. She’s so real and unique and one of those rare characters with a personality all her own. I loved her from the start because she is who she is and yet, she’s well aware of her faults and limitations, and has a plan to fix them. But in a very unconventional, Melody kind of way. She is definitely no cookie-cutter heroine, that’s for sure, and she’s the perfect woman for the hero of this book, Aaron Major, who like Melody, is also in dire need of finding himself.
Both Melody and Aaron are trying to make career—and life—comebacks, though in very different ways. They got off to a rocky start when they first met, but things soon change as circumstances and attraction lead to a deeper connection between them.
I enjoyed this hero and heroine together. They made a great team, and a solid romantic pairing. The story moved at the perfect pace, sweeping me along with the characters as they moved about their days. I loved that. I loved that I could just sit back and enjoy a good romantic story with fun characters and some hot encounters.
If you love stories with small town girls trying to make their way in a big city and reforming bad boy musicians doing their best to repair their reputation, Played by Clare James is a smart, fun, sexy read sure to bring a smile to your face and make you long for a nice cold glass of ice tea.
