Always on My Mind by Samantha Chase ~ New Release Review

ALWAYS ON MY MIND

SAMANTHA CHASE RETURNS TO MAGNOLIA SOUND

Always on My Mind is the tenth book in author Samantha Chase’s Magnolia Sound series and features Parker Bishop and Ethan Harlow in an opposites attract, roommates to lovers story. I believe this is my first read by this author, though I could be mistaken on that. If so, it’s my first read in years and I have to say, I loved every single bit of it. This author definitely has a way with words, and her stories are fast-paced, well-written, and highly engrossing.

Returning to Magnolia Sound was never part of the plan. Then again, Parker Bishop rarely had one. Yet after confessing her love to her best friend right before his wedding, she needs time to lick her wounds from the disastrous scene that unfolds. After the unsympathetic welcome she receives from her parents and siblings, Parker finds herself absentmindedly driving through town in search of a place to stay.

That’s when she spots the flier and a familiar name…

Ethan Harlow enjoys the peace and quiet. Unfortunately, finding a moment of it becomes impossible when the flier he posts for a roommate brings Parker crashing into his life. Of course, he remembers her from high school. It’s impossible to forget little miss popular who was always the center of attention. All he wanted was to split the rent and keep to himself. Instead, Parker transforms his home and makes him question the dreams he gave up out of fear of stepping out of his comfort zone.

The attraction they feel to one another makes crossing the line from roommates to lovers seem inevitable. But the more Parker encourages Ethan to pursue his dreams, the less likely it becomes that they can have any kind of future together. Can they find a way to claim their happily ever after or will their individual paths make a future impossible?

BOOK REVIEW

In Always on My Mind, Parker Bishop returns home to Magnolia Sound, completely at a loss on what to do with her life and where to live. She tried living with relatives, but none of the places she stayed worked out so well for her. Then she finds a flyer for someone who needs a roommate and before she knows it, she’s rooming with a former high school classmate turned college professor, Ethan Harlow.

I really loved this story. Parker is such a complex and fascinating character. She can’t seem to settle down anywhere because no place quite feels like home, like she belongs. She knows she’s a disappointment to her family because she doesn’t seem to have any direction in her life, but the problem is, she doesn’t really know who she is or what she wants. Their constant disapproval in her does not help her situation or self-view at all.

While Parker is more of an extrovert, Ethan is a true introvert. He’s awkward in the best of ways, and he lives more inside himself than out. Which is why he and Parker are perfect for each other because they truly challenge each other to break outside their comfort zones and become their whole selves.

Always on My Mind is a delightfully fun and heartwarming story filled with charm and bursting with engaging characters in true-to-life situations and family and friend dynamics. Both Parker and Ethan are two characters who will quickly steal a reader’s heart and have them rooting for them to find their happily ever after. Absolutely adored this story and these characters.

About Samantha Chase

Samantha Chase

Samantha Chase is a New York Times and USA Today bestseller of contemporary romance that’s hotter than sweet, sweeter than hot. She released her debut novel in 2011 and currently has more than seventy titles under her belt – including THE CHRISTMAS COTTAGE which was a Hallmark Christmas movie in 2017! She’s a Disney enthusiast who still happily listens to 80’s rock. When she’s not working on a new story, she spends her time reading romances, playing way too many games of Solitaire on Facebook, wearing a tiara while playing with her sassy pug Maylene…oh, and spending time with her husband of 30 years and their two sons in Wake Forest, North Carolina.
