Stationary Book Tag

Okay, here goes…

I actually have three that I always go back to. Where The Red Fern Grows and Summer of the Monkeys by Winston Rawls were both set in Oklahoma where I was from and I loved them as a kid. The first one was actually filmed as a movie, twice, in Tahlequah, Oklahoma, home of my college alma matar.

The 1983 release The Dollhouse Murders by Betty Ren Wright is my other childhood book love. I was seven when it first came out, maybe eight or nine when I read it, and I loved that book so much. I lost the original copy I had many years ago, but about eleven years ago, I hunted down a copy online and now have it on my shelves.

Runner-Up Childhood Loves: the 1984 Dear Mr. Henshaw (Leigh Botts #1) and the 1982 Ramona the Pest (Ramona #2) by Beverly Cleary, the 1972 Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing (Fudge #1) by Judy Blume (which I read in 1984), and the 1957 Mrs. Piggle-Wiggle (Mrs. Piggle Wiggle #1) by Betty MacDonald (which I read in 1984).

Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte (published in 1847) is a classic. The copy I have I bought in 1988 or 1989. I was in middle school and had watched the old black and white movie with my oldest sister. Then I wanted to read the book and I did. It remains a favorite of mine to this day and always has it’s spot on my shelf.

Runner-Up: Definitely has to be Gone With The Wind by Margaret Mitchell. Loved that book, and the movie.

Just in Print: This one might surprise some people but…Star Wars original trilogy books. I own multiple copies of that, older one that is falling apart and a newer one I recently ordered. I also own them in graphic novels. (And on a side note, I also own multiple copies of the movies as well—all of them).

Print and Digital: A lot of series I own in both digital and print. A few of them are:

• Jill Shalvis – Cedar Ridge and Heartbreaker Bay series
• Lori Foster –  Too Much Temptation  (book) and her Men Who Walk The Edge of Honor (series)
• Maisey Yates  – Copper Ridge series
• Jessica Lemmon – Bad Boy Series and her most recent Billionaire Bachelors series
• Lauren Layne – New York’s Finest Series
• Tessa Bailey – Made in Jersey, Crossing the Line, and Broke and Beautiful series
• Katee Robert – The O’Malley Series

I actually bought Such Sweet Sorrow by Jenny Trout because of it’s cover.

Harry and Hermione in Harry Potter is the one that comes to mind first.

Twilight. I hated what the author did to the vampire myth in that book. I couldn’t finish it and it might be the only book I have ever physically tossed away from me. The next one would be Fifty Shades of Grey. Not a fan, and again, not a book I could finish reading.

• Snow Like Ashes  by Sara Raasch
• Blake Blade  by Jennifer Estep

I am still working on my Shadowhunter and Hunger Games series, and a couple of new series I started buying is The Darkest Minds series by Alexandra Bracken and the Mitch Rapp series by the late Vince Flynn (American Assassin) and that is being continued by author Kyle Mills.
