Today on Okie Dreams, we have a book review for INDECENT EXPOSURE by Tessa Bailey. INDECENT EXPOSURE is the second book in author Tessa Bailey’s The Academy series with Avon Romance.
So, it turns out, it’s very hard to write a book review when the book in question leaves you an emotional, teary-eyed mess. But that’s exactly what happened with Indecent Exposure and Jack Garrett. The man broke my heart six ways to Sunday and I loved every single second of that breaking because he’s absolutely amazing. One of the best, most flawed romance heroes I have ever read, and I’ve read more than a few.
Jack is a man tortured by his past and in desperate need of change. He struggles to get through each day and to live his life mundane because he’s so troubled by his past he can’t seem to function without something to numb the memories. He feels unworthy of good things and he’s only going through the motions of living when he first meets Katie McCoy.
Katie is something of a revelation for Jack. She’s nothing he ever expected to find and everything he’s desperately needed to discover. And while technically, they shouldn’t be together because of her job and his recruit status, they quickly prove all the reasons they shouldn’t be apart, too.
When people talk about characters with flaws and emotional demons that haunt them, they talk about characters like Jack and Katie. Two incredible story people who desperately need to meet and fall in love. They need to be shaken out of their usual routine and find something completely different from what they wanted for themselves because they deserve it and they are worthy of finding it. Jack and Katie prove all the reasons why this is true, and why Tessa Bailey is one of my all time favorite authors to deliver it.
If you’ve never read a Tessa Bailey book, I urge you to pick up a copy of Indecent Exposure and find out why she’s one of the best character writers and storytellers around. Is this book hot? Yes. Does it have explicit sex scenes? Oh yeah. But it also has pain and heartbreak, laughter and hope, forgiveness and acceptance, love and promise. In truth, it has a little bit of everything, and that’s what makes it my favorite Tessa Bailey book to date.

About Tessa Bailey
Tessa Bailey is originally from Carlsbad, California. The day after high school graduation, she packed her yearbook, ripped jeans, and laptop, and drove cross-country to New York City in under four days. Her most valuable life experiences were learned thereafter while waitressing at K-Dees, a Manhattan pub owned by her uncle. Inside those four walls, she met her husband, best friend, and discovered the magic of classic rock, managing to put herself through Kingsborough Community College and the English program at Pace University at the same time. Several stunted attempts to enter the work force as a journalist followed, but romance writing continued to demand her attention. She now lives in Long Island, New York with her husband and daughter. Although she is severely sleep-deprived, she is incredibly happy to be living her dream of writing about people falling in love.

Is there a problem, Officer?
Jack Garrett isn’t a police officer yet, but there’s already an emergency. His new firearms instructor—the one who just dropped every jaw in the academy gym—is the same sexy Irish stranger Jack locked lips with last night. The Olympic gold medalist and expert markswoman is now officially off-limits, but Jack’s never cared much for rules . . .
Katie McCoy’s been cooped up in a shooting range for too long. A wild love affair is just what she needs to let loose, though she never imagined it would be with her smokin’ hot trainee. She cannot get involved with Jack—but a quick fling? Perfect. Falling hard for a charismatic recruit with an equal amount of sex appeal and secrets? Bloody stupid.
Jack’s charmed the pants off plenty of women (literally), yet few have ever looked beyond his perfect surface. Until Katie. He’ll do anything to keep her in his life . . . except tell her about his past. But a tiny lie of omission never hurt anyone, right?
