Wade Hayes performs a special acoustic set under an awning in Carrollton Missouri after a thunderstorm forced festival organizers to shut things down early.

Over two hundred people rode out hard rain and wicked lightning to see country music artist Wade Hayes perform in Carrollton Missouri for the Total Eclipse of the Heart festival on Friday night.

Instead of the usual stage show with lights and sound system though, Hayes and his band performed an intimate, hour long acoustic set under an awning. For the devoted fans who stayed through the storm to see Hayes perform live, the show became an extra special moment that few others have the chance to witness.

Belting out hits such as show opener Tore Up From The Floor Up, On A Good Night, Don’t Stop, The Day That She Left Tulsa, and Old Enough To Know Better, Hayes proved he still has it and instantly made the show an unforgettable experience for both new and old fans alike.

With some fans driving an hour and a half to see the show, the night could’ve been a disappointing wash for them if not for Hayes and his team being willing to perform under a surprising and unusual set of circumstances. And crowd goers ate it up, singing along with every hit as well as with newer, less known songs.

During the small show, Hayes spoke about the late, great Glen Campbell and getting to record his own version of Wichita Lineman, which someone in the crowd requested that he sing. Hayes also spoke about his two battles with Stage IV colon cancer and sang his moving, uplifting song, Go Live Your Life, which he wrote after receiving the news he was cancer free.

After the show, Hayes and his team set up a booth where he had T-shirts and copies of his newest CD, Old Country Song. He signed items and took photos with fans, giving those in attendance yet another memorable, intimate moment with the country star.

All in all, a night that might’ve been a total letdown instead turned into special, one-of-a-kind performance that a few lucky Wade Hayes fans will never forget. Including this one.

Full Set-List: Tore Up From The Floor Up, The Day That She Left Tulsa, Don’t Stop, On A Good Night, What I Meant To Say, Wichita Lineman, I Wish I Still Drank, What You Need From Me, Old Enough To Know Better, Go Live Your Life
