DUNKIRK is the kind of movie that sits with its viewers long after it has reached its end. When I saw it in theaters for the first time, the silence of the audience both during the movie and afterward, when people were walking out to leave, spoke volumes about the deep impact the film made on viewers. It is a cinematic and emotional masterpiece with stellar performances by an incredible ensemble cast.
With minimal dialogue throughout the film, DUNKIRK might have risked losing the interest of its audience had it been helmed by anyone other than Christopher Nolan. But with his talent for casting the right people in the right roles and then putting the viewer right where the action is, DUNKIRK became an emotional and visual experience like no other. This, along with the phenomenal score by Hans Zimmer, gives viewers a tense, eye-opening view of what this moment in World War II might have been like for the 400,000 men who experienced it.
Emotional. Visual. Immersive. Brilliant. DUNKIRK is in theaters now.
